Imports from Jakarta June 2022 Increase, Dominated by Raw/Auxiliary Materials

Economic activity continues to increase during the economic recovery period due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This has an impact on increasing domestic demand and affecting the performance of imports. The cumulative value of Jakarta's imports (c-to-c) in January-June 2022 increased by 27.7 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.
In line with the cumulative value, imports in June 2022 also rose 16.9 percent compared to the previous month. This increase was triggered by rising exports in all sectors. The oil and gas and non-oil and gas sectors increased by 90.9 percent and 15.5 percent, respectively, compared to May 2022.
On a year-on-year basis, Jakarta's imports also increased by 20.7 percent. When viewed based on the classification of use of imported goods (BEC), all groups experienced an increase compared to the same month in the previous year. Imports of raw/auxiliary materials increased by 24.6 percent, followed by an increase in imports of capital goods by 15.6 percent. Imports of consumer goods also increased by 9.6 percent. This indicates a continued improvement in the economy.
