Jakarta Inflation Consistently Rises in July 2022

In the midst of inflationary pressures and the global economy, inflation in Jakarta was observed to continue to rise in July 2022. Prices of a number of goods and services were recorded to continue to climb. This condition pushed Jakarta's inflation to increase, exceeding the inflation rate before the COVID-19 pandemic.
In July 2022, Jakarta's inflation was recorded at 0.57 percent, an increase of 0.25 percentage points compared to the previous month. The increase in inflation this time was mainly triggered by the increase in the price of red chili, household fuel, air transportation services, broiler meat, and house rental costs. In addition, the rising prices of a number of commodities related to preparations for entering the new school year also contributed to inflation in Jakarta.
In line with Jakarta, other cities in Indonesia also experienced inflation. Among the satellite cities around Jakarta, Jakarta's inflation is at a moderate level. Two cities experienced higher inflation than Jakarta, namely Depok (0.71 percent) and Bekasi (0.62 percent), and two other cities experienced lower inflation, namely Bogor (0.55 percent) and Tangerang (0.21 percent). Meanwhile, nationally, Jakarta is ranked 54th out of 90 cities experiencing inflation.
