Optimism at the Beginning of the Year, Exports Reach 1 Billion Dollars

Positive signals of global economic improvement in 2022 could be seen from the recovery of domestic economic growth, which showed a positive direction compared to 2021. The increase in domestic production driven by domestic demand and abroad. This condition was reflected in the rise in the value of Jakarta’s exports at the beginning of 2022.
In January 2022, Jakarta’s export values reached US$ 1 billion, which was the third time in the last three years. This value increased by 3.3 percent compared to the previous month (month-to-month). This increase triggered by the strengthening of the export value of main export commodities, such as precious metals and jewellery/precious stones, machinery and mechanical appliances and part thereof, and articles of apparel and clothing accessories (not knitted).
Compared to the same month the previous year (year-on-year), this value rapidly increased by 20.6 percent. The commodities that boosted the increase in this period were animal or vegetable fats and oils, which were increased by more than 100 percent.
